La grande quille caudale pivotait automatiquement vers la droire lorsque le train d'atterrissage sortait. Pour quelque raison obscure, nous n'avons plus jamais vu d'approche en formation dans aucune unité à partir de 1992.

A pair of MiG-23MLD is approaching Altes Lager runway in September 1991. The wings are at the minimum sweep and the slats and flaps are down, while the horizontal tail is up. The big ventral fin automatically folded to the right when the landing gear was lowered. For whatever reason, we never saw anymore formation landing anywhere from 1992 on.
