Un poste de commandement volant Tu-134AK Balkany était assigné au 226.OSAP ou il assurait le transport des généraux Tarasenko et Bourlakov, respectivement commandants de la 16.VA et du ZGV. Cette machine était toutefois mise en oeuvre par le personnel voisin du 113.OSAE. Un long carénage caudal abritait une antenne, tandis que deux antennes HF plus petites étaient situées sur le dos du fuselage au milieu ainsi qu'au-dessus de l'empennage horizontal. Deux autres antennes HF se trouvaient sous le fuselage arrière.

Tu-134AK Balkany - often misidentified as Tu-135 - flying command posts were assigned to Military Districts and Air Armies commanders. The long tail fairing for a HF antenna was its main characteristic. There were also two small HF aerials on top of the fuselage and atop the horizontal stabiliser as well as two more under the tail. Seating was generally reduced to 26, due to the various communication consoles and their operators.
