Le Su-17UM3 n°85 du 20.GvAPIB photoraphié en 1980 a souvent été utillisé par les pilotes du 730.APIB lors de leur conversion sur Su-17M cette année-là. L'avion sera malheureusement perdu avec son équipage composé du capitaine A. V. Bougay, commandant d'escadrille et instucteur, et le Colonel P. E. Gourov, commandant du régiment, le 23 avril 1981. Pris dans des chutes de neige de nuit, l'appareil s'est écrasé dans la forêt six kilomètres avant la piste.

The plane was unfortunately lost with its crew composed of Captain A. V. Bugay, squadron commander and instructor, and Colonel P. Ye. Gurov, regimental commander, on April 23, 1981. The aircraft crashed in the forest six kilometers before the runway when caught in a night snowstorm.
