Le 20.GvAPIB a reçu ses premiers Su-17M3 au printemps 1980 lorsque cette photo a été prise. Celui-ci était toujours équipé d'un conteneur SPS-141V contrebalancé par un conteneur lance-roquettes UB-32A à droite. Des réservoirs PTB-800 étaient montés sous le fuselage.

The 20.GvAPIB received its first Su-17M3 in the spring of 1980 when this picture was taken. The aircraft is still carrying an SPS-141V ECM pod counterbalanced by a UB-32A rocket pod on the right side. PTB-800 drop tanks were mounted under the fuselage.
