L'An-12B n°84 du 226.OSAP disposait de deux carénages en goutte d'eau sous le fuselage. Cette caractéristique était commune avec le modèle de recherche et de sauvetage en mer An-12PS (> Photo). Elle n'était cependant pas à confondre avec celle de l'An-12R de reconnaissance électronique (> Photo) qui possédait également deux carénages sous le fuselage au même endroit, mais plus volumineux et de forme cylindrique. Les avions de transport standards étaient équipés d'un seul carénage en goutte d'eau abritant l'antenne du radiocompas ARK-UD.

An-12B bort number 84 of the 226.OSAP was equipped with two teardrop fairings under the fuselage. That characteristic was common with the An-12PS search and rescue variant (> Photo). Those fairings were not to be confused with the bigger cylindrical one of the An-12R SIGINT version that were located at the same place (> Photo). The standard transport variant of the An-12 was equipped with a single teardrop fairing protecting the antenna of an ARK-UD radio compass.
