Koutakhov a rejoint par la suite les rangs du 20.GvIAP dont il prit le commandement en mai 1944. Après la guerre, il fut nommé commandant des VVS en 1969, un poste qu'il ne quitta plus jusqu'à sa mort le 3 décembre 1984. Il peut être vu ici à Neuruppin en 1984.
