Les premiers MiG-27D ont rejoint Lärz en 1984, où ils remplacèrent progressivement les MiG-27 des 2 et 3.AE. Les MiG-27K du 1.AE furent quant à eux remplacés par des MiG-27D en 1988.

The first MiG-27D were delivered to Lärz in 1984, where they replaced progressively the MiG-27 of the 2 and 3.AE. The MiG-27K of the 1.AE were replaced also by MiG-27D in 1988.
