Mi-22 bort number 50 was based at Nohra between 1983 and 1988.
Commander Komarov and his crew were masking some features of this flying command post seen at Nohra
airfield. The serial number on the tailboom and the antennas were deleted from the picture. On a larger size image, it is also possible to see that the background behind the tail was erased.
This helicopter would have been previously on strength with the 113.OSAE based at Sperenberg.
It joined the 298.OVE BU that was stationed at Nohra until 1989 before moving to Hassleben (Mi-22 '50' s/n 0669V was observed there).
That "Hook-B" was part of a flight that included also four Mi-8s. One of them
was a very rare Mi-8R model (picture > HERE)
that flew missions along the border between the GDR and the FRG to monitor NATO radio communications.
